Who are these WhipperChicks?

Heather

Heather[1]I’m Heather, the creator of WhipperBerry, mom of four super cute WhipperSnappers, wife to an amazingly handsome and incredibly tolerant man. They have to put up with all of my crazy whims and the mess that comes with it. I’m serious, the kitchen table has become not only a place for family gatherings, but a photo studio and design studio to boot. I am a WhipperChick with a primal need to create! WhipperBerry was created after the birth of my son. The poor kiddo has three older sisters and when I was pregnant with him I realized that girls are really catered to when it comes to fun, stylish baby accessories. Boys get nothing!! I then created a stylish line of car seat covers called WhipperKeepers in order to keep my new little guy safe, dry and protected from the elements.  I started my WhipperBerry Etsy shop and then needed something to promote the shop. An idea was born.  I decided to create a collaborative blog with my super cool and talented friends who also have the same primal need as mine.  We could meet together, in one spot, and share our creations and treasures with the world!  So there you have it, the birth of WhipperBerry!

Whitney

n675811210_4414 Hi there. I’m Whitney, mother of two beautiful children and wife of a most extraordinary man. I genuinely consider myself one of the most fortunate women in the world because of these three. I love jazz music, j.crew, and most things that start with J. My passion for art started in high school and has continued throughout my life. After being terrified of my ability to support a family on an artist’s wage, I received my bachelor’s from Brigham Young University in Exercise Science. Since then, I have never used my degree to make a single penny, but have started a business in cake decorating and event styling.

Erin 001 Blog...what's a blog? No, I'm not that daft! But I never in a million years thought I would be doing one! Although, I have always thought my career path was quite fascinating! Bright eyed young (and old) things are always asking about details in wedding and event design & planning. Are there really bridezillas? (YES)... What's the craziest wedding you've had? (Bikini Bride with full train say's "I DO" and walks down the aisle with her new husband straight into the pool surrounded by life size lobsters and Rio girls!!). I have literally been told at least once a week that I should write a book on my career and the past of the famous facility I now run! But books are so old school...welcome to the future!
My family has owned the Secret Garden at the famous Las Vegas Racquet Club since 1962. I am 4th generation and initially wanted nothing to do with the business! I graduated with honors in 1995 and went to BYU in hopes of becoming a famous plastic surgeon...yeah, that didn't happen! I worked at a bridal dress shop during college and fell back in love with the magic of weddings! So I grabbed my husband of 8 months and high-tailed it back to Vegas. I've worn every hat there is in event planning & design so I will proceed to tell you the good, the bad, the ugly, & the truth...

So in addition to running a busy wedding facility, a household consisting of a cool (but eye-rolling) husband, two kids almost a decade apart, 3 dogs, 2 cats & a fish; my new "blog job" is to entertain the masses with my outrageous wedding stories, give solid advice for your personal events, as well as tidbits of personal insight to my everyday existence. I hope you are ready for the roller coaster I call normal!

Mommy & Kaya at Wedding 2 - Copy There are two things you need to know about me: one, nothing motivates me more than having FUN! Luckily I have done a very good job surrounding myself with people who keep me grounded – namely my husband. The second thing you need to know is that I love to create! And I'll do just about anything and everything, as long as it involves putting things together to create something new.
I have a passion for colors that resides deep in my soul. I love to paint and play with colors in a variety of ways. Paper crafting has always been my forte, and that involves card making, scrapbooking, and invitation design. I adore party planning and event organizing. I also love to design digitally and create printable publications.
There is one thing I don't do, however. I don't sew. And I mean it - I don't knit, crochet, or even sew on a button. I thought I died and went to heaven the day Mighty Mend-it came out. It has saved me on many occasions from running to my mom's house in a panic. This is not my mother's fault. She tried so hard, but for some reason I took a moral stance against the art and dug in my heels. I haven't put a needle to fabric since.
I was raised in Las Vegas, and I got married at the mature age of eighteen, only three months after graduating high school. This was not the original plan, but what can I say? The man came in and swooped me off my feet, tripping up all of my independent college plans while he was at it. I did manage to go back to school here and there between having my four babies and becoming domesticated. I went into accounting to balance out my oil painting and creative writing classes.
I became head of the accounting department of an Italian food warehouse, which abetted my taste for fine food. I started experimenting with all these fabulous imported ingredients (at wholesale cost of course!) and developed an enthusiasm for cooking.
Now I work part time from home, accounting for my brother's business, while looking for ways to have fun and do it all (except sew of course)!

Me and Adelyn Apprehensive and thrilled don’t often find themselves as neighbors in the same sentence, yet those are the feelings I have fluttering around inside as I introduce myself as the newest WhipperChick. Apprehensive because I have a whole lot of respect for the Ladies who you already know and love, and Thrilled at the thought of sharing with you the things that make me happy.

While I’m a native to Las Vegas, Nevada, I do a tight rope wobble along the fine line of down home country girl and high style elegance. I love the feel of cotton quilted into an heirloom cover you’d love to snuggle under. In the same breath there is a deep appreciation for the design and style of the modern age. Somewhere in between is where you’ll find me, and I love it here!

I’m lucky enough to be married to a handsome hardworking man for the last ten years with four of the cutest little kids you could ever ask for. A sigh of contentment wells up in my breast every time I look at them. A majority of my time is spent weaving a nest worthy of such blessings and when there’s a quiet moment, I write, sew, cook, read and craft. I love being creative.

Writing is my main love, but I’ll admit right now I have a little thing for cooking. My best days involve whipping up something yummy for my little family. There’s nothing as cheering as the smell of homemade bread baking in the oven, a roast melting into tenderness in the Crockpot or chicken noodle soup bubbling on the stove. I’m really good at finding recipes that turn into family favorites and I love hunting for them.

Jamie

Jamie Though my writing skills are not as honed as others of my Whipper sisters, I still find inexplicable happiness in writing or reading about things that excite my passion for life. For me, passion comes readily, always at hand threatening to unearth itself while I devour another's literary masterpiece or toy with an experimental recipe. My own personal goal? To create joy in whatever circumstance I find myself and help others do the same. Nothing is just out of reach with these unlimited resources at our disposal.

I am Jamie, mother of five terrific children and wife to a devoted husband. How blessed I am to be surrounded by such loveliness, a beautiful family I love thoroughly and many talented women anxious to share their knowledge with the intention of enriching lives where possible. I look forward to sharing portions of myself, but mostly I’m thrilled about the enlightenment I hope to gain from each of you!

Kristin

14244_709929907789_17829079_39321492_3056343_n[4]I’ve always loved making beautiful things. I used to cover my desk with poster board so I could doodle on it while I did homework in high school. That changed to digital design in college when I got bored in class and started visually illustrating my favorite songs in paint [remember that old program that comes on virtually every pc…yeah. It doesn’t even have layers!] to pass the time. That changed to digital scrapbooking a year or two later, when I started documenting my personal life on a blog. I immediately fell in love with the personalized art and was addicted from the beginning. My design hobby landed me a job as a cover artist for a publisher. I learned a lot about typography, color & design best practices while at that job and I still rely on that knowledge while designing. Heather found me a while back and asked if I would be interested in re-designing her blog. One thing led to another and now I'm designing the printables you see on all these adorable WhipperBerry Tables!

I love the details. Most of the time, it's the little things that make something look complete. A highlight dot, inked edges, textured paper, purple spray paint. I love it all. So, you can only imagine how thrilled I am to have been asked to work on the details of these tables! Something a little more exciting for you as the WhipperBerry reader, is that now you'll be able to recreate these tables for yourself! I'll be offering the printables online at Peach Tree Paperie You can even request designs for a custom party you've been cooking up! Mention you found me on WhipperBerry and I'll give you 20% off your custom order.

When I'm not designing, I enjoy freezer cooking, couponing, blogging, sudoku, playing the guitar, playing softball/basketball/volleyball, and spending time with my wonderful husband!

Katie

Katie-It’s surprising to me that growing up as the only girl in a house with three brothers, I managed to have a crafty bone in my body! But I can tell you I’ve been a true girl from day one; never passing up the opportunity to play dress-up or to help in the kitchen. In fact, I still remember the first time I got an Easy-Bake Oven for Christmas. It was by far the best gift I ever received! My love of baking started at a very young age, and it never died. My mom loved to cook, but hated baking, so I was often left to my own devices to whip up a concoction that typically turned out disastrous. In high-school I never passed up the opportunity to take classes I loved; always making sure I was in art, quilting, or cooking.
Today I’m a wife to an amazing man, and a mother to a baby girl who brings me inexplicable joy. I’m a cake decorator, a baker, and a sewer – and you’ll never see me pass up the chance to cozy up to a good book! I’ve learned that doing what your passionate about comes through in your work. That’s why I am so excited to be a part of WhipperBerry! These women are passionate about what they do, which makes the possibilities for creativity endless. I’m so blessed to have wonderful family and great friends around me. I always love to learn something new, and I can’t wait to share and receive ideas from you!

Danielle

38153_1441640253763_1615781165_1083887_1511191_n[3]Hi, I’m Danielle—a 30-something wife & mother of three, living in the good ole’ south. Tulsa to be exact. I’m silly and sarcastic, a sassy, but classy, girl that loves to laugh. My deepest passion lies in turning something blah into something oh-so-fabulous. Growing up, I never thought I had a creative bone in my body; little did I know that my creative side was just waiting to escape. I am the ultimate DIYer, and I get a feeling of euphoria while creating.

I love black licorice and cinnamon bears. I crave Mexican food daily. I’m sort of neurotic about hair. I grew up on a farm with LOTS of animals. I'm a list maker, but then proceed to lose them. I used to be shy… but not anymore. I’m quite the multi-tasker. I enjoy cooking/baking, but I almost always change every recipe I try. I wish I was more coordinated. I have commitment issues. I LOVE new shoes. I honestly haven’t decided what I want to be when I grow up. I am so honored to be a part of the Whipperberry team. Creativity is in my soul and I hope that I may share a little with you.

Sarah

Hi, I’m Sarah, a new transplant to Las Vegas, wife of a Superhero, mother of a loving yet annoying little dog, and a dying houseplant. Sadly, the plant is fake. I still think I am in my early twenties, but it turns out 27 is no longer considered early twenties.

Six months ago I stood looking at myself in the mirror with tears streaming down my face, and hated the image staring back at me. I tipped the scale at a whopping 261 pounds on my small 5’3” frame. I couldn’t even see a way out but knew I needed to change.

My life turned around completely when my mom and I were handed pink sports bras, pink shirts, the most awful black spandex shorts, and became the pink team for season 11 of NBC’s television show Biggest Loser. I am going through the most incredible transformation right now, and it would be far too selfish of me to keep my new found knowledge and wonderful Biggest Loser secrets and tips to myself.

I have learned so much about diet and exercise, and I can’t wait to share.  There is also a mental and emotional side of struggles with weight that we can’t forget about. I still have a long way to go, and am excited to have you join me as I continue on this journey and share the information that I am so blessed to be receiving.
